The most wearable trends from MBFWA 18

Fashion week is gone, but the trends will stick around. The aftermath of MBFWA left behind a diverse selection of proposals we can’t wait to put into use. Although as with most fashion weeks around the globe, this season wasn’t much about what’s new but about comebacks with something fresh.

With flashbacks from past decades and revivals galore, the predominance of 80’s extravagance with accentuated shoulders and massive sleeves was an outstanding recipe; the 70’s – whether with disco glitz or those boho vibes we can’t get enough of, and …. let’s not forget, our 90’s favorite – Clueless nostalgia! The following are some of the hottest and most wearable trends you’ll be seeing everywhere!

Gingham Love!

Gingham print goes way back to the 50’s but we can’t ignore it was a highlight in some of the runways seen during MBFWA, as well as in other fashion weeks around the globe. Whether black and white, or in a variety of colors, this print promises to be one of the most #grammable trends of the season.

Dressy Denim

This takes us back to the 70’s – Denim is timeless, our favorite go-to fix when less is more. But the current proposal takes it from its basic and casual context, to an elevated and new interpretation of denim lux, in the form of elaborated and dressy garments, which use can be extended to a wider dress code schedule.

Belt Bags

The old Fanny pack elevated and sleeker, like a minimal pocked you can wrap around your waist or stylishly carried on your shoulders – just enough for a smartphone, lipstick and card providing freedom that doesn’t compromise style.

Statement Belts

It’s been a while, since the last time we saw belts as key element – sure everyone wears a belt here and there but the strong type comes back to emphasize your waist, just like those chunky styles back in the 80’s – the novelty in 2018 proposes a sleeker take, remember – don’t torture yourself, just enhance your silhouette!

From staple to statement – Another smart wardrobe addition every woman should own. From tailored fitted styles to 80’s inspired tuxedos, this season long blazers come infused with attitude and empowerment, not to mention multiple styling options.

We have fallen in love with statement sleeves since their comeback more that four years ago, a prevailing trend echoing yesteryear’s fashion, from simple 70’s inspired styles to a few centuries back with the balloon or bishop shaped. Now we look back at the 80’s with exuberant models resembling this decade’s maximalism.

Clueless Cult

Cher Horowitz will always be a fashion icon – her yellow checked jacket and skirt will always be a memorable fashion moment, inspiring the newer generations even 20 years later. But since Versace recreated this outfit last season, it was obvious the clueless mania was back, with many other brands including Clueless inspired looks in their repertoire. Checked patterns, sheer collar blouses with jumper dresses, vinyl among many other references from this film are relevant once more !
