Outfit - Earthy Shades

Colours come and go as fashions, but it is curious to see how often our choices in this matter have to do a bit more with what is trending rather than personal taste and convenience. With the subtle rose quartz and serenity, 2016 brought a proposal that seemingly pleased everyone who fancy pastel shades, including myself; other times the colour of the year might saturate or rather cause a few yawns here and there just as it happended with Radiant Orchid and Marsala in 2014 and 2015 respectively. What’s funny is that every year Pantone’s proposal encourage us to go through tones we’ve used our whole lives, now tagged under fanciful names… if we look in detail to the previous Pantone colour chart, it is easy to see there are no big differences in tones but in shades, and just to name it as example, radiant orchid was the thing in 2014 and appears again as one of 2016 colours for fall labeled as Bodacious…

So, pretentious marketing habits or just subtle variations only visible to sensible eyes and tastes? Let’s leave it open to interpretations, just as this cardigan from Zaful, although I love everything about it, describing its colour can be subjective; at first glance most people would say it’s terracotta, hazelnut, acer leaf or simply dark Khaky as seen on the page, but according to what Pantone brings for fall 2016-17 we find it as Potter´s Clay. The conclusion? Love trends and make the most of them, when it comes to colours don’t live by the book, just make the most of those you like, cos the colour of the year is that one that suits you wonderfully!

Colores van colores vienen, es curioso ver como cada tanto nuestras elecciones en color tienen un poco mas que ver con los dictámenes de moda, que con nuestras propias preferencias y conveniencia. Con los sutiles rosa quartz y serenity el 2016 trajo una propuesta que pareció complacer los gustos de muchas, incluyéndome hasta el cansancio; otras veces el color del ano puede llegar a saturar o causar bostezos, como paso con el orquídea radiante en 2014 y Marsala en 2015 respectivamente. Lo curioso es que cada año la propuesta de Pantone nos incita a recorrer gamas de colores que hemos llevado toda la vida, etiquetadas bajo rebuscados nombres… si observamos bien las cartas de color podemos apreciar que no hay mucha novedad o diferencia de colores sino variaciones, por nombrar un ejemplo, hace dos anos tuvimos al orquídea radiante como tono del 1014 y si bien en 2016 no es rey si está presente como propuesta para el otoño referenciado como Bodacious… caprichoso o sutilezas solo visibles para los ojos mas sensibles? Eso queda en terreno subjetivo.

Como este cardigan de Zaful, aunque me encanta todo de el, su color puede tener una lista extensa de descripciones, a simple vista muchos dirían que es terracota, nuez, hoja de arce otoñal o simplemente Khaky oscuro como aparece descrito en la pagina, pero según lo que trae Pantone para 2016 -17 lo encontramos como Arcilla de Alfarero. Concluyendo con esto que lo importante no seguir la carta de color sino aprovechar al máximo aquellos con los que te sientan de maravilla
