Snaps from Los Angeles

Where did the year go? We are about to celebrate Christmas and I look back thinking about everything 2018 has left behind.  Given that it’s been a while since I updated the blog with a travel post I thought I’d share a few snaps from my brief stop to L.A three months ago before returning for a much needed stay with my family in Colombia. As you may know, travelling from Australia can be a huge jump, involving long and exhausting hours between planes and airports, so I decided to have an extended stay over in Los Angeles, to freshen up and enjoy this city’s summer vibes!

My home for a few days was no other than the very Beverly Hilton hotel, and as you would imagine after a 13 hour flight, travelling solo, hence chaos with heavy suitcases I needed my beauty sleep, better yet – Vampire sleep, indulged with the comfort of a nice room just for myself, plus chill out time by the pool.

PS, this hotel is pet friendly, I wish I had taken photos of every furry guest I saw, but I didn’t wanted to look like a dog-stalker

Next day I woke up fresh and feeling ready for some action, at one of my favorites L.A spots – I told my Uber driver to take me to Santa Monica! It was crowded yes, but with lots of fun and variety, beautiful ocean views, a Ferris Wheel, and that iconic long pier, what else could I ask for?

And when you’re travelling solo, who takes your photos? Well, other “solo: tourists in need of assistance for their own photos!

But for this time that was it, my plans didn’t include long hours driving, I thought all the entertainment I needed wasn’t far from my hotel, so what better epicenter than Rodeo Drive? Full of stores, attractions and fine dinning, such as 208 Rodeo, a signature restaurant in this area, with delicious menu and an European allure. Of course I took a few moments to snap my outfit post with the local photographer Joeis, – she was great and you can check her work via my Instastories.

Now, there was a place I’ve always wanted to come back to since my last visit – Farmer’s Markets, mostly a gastronomic hub, but where you can find charming stores and gift shops. I was looking for a kiosk where I once had the most delicious waffles, but whether because it was packed as expected or because I’ve got distracted taking photos as usual, this time I couldn’t find it; thankfully I came across Monsieur Marcel, and just like that I felt transported to Europe with its French Cuisine!

I know you probably know these places already or at least heard of them, so let me recommend you a true Beverly Hills gem, The Peninsula Terrace, located at the Peninsula Hotel. Thankfully a lovely friend I met a few years ago during NYFW is a local, and she was free for a much needed catch up. Anyways, the hotel has an impressive structure and lavish interiors, but the terrace is indeed an oasis itself, with panoramic views of the city, beautiful lighting, colorful umbrellas and of course a pool, providing the perfect atmosphere for a memorable evening. Did I mention exquisite menu?

When in Los Angeles we do the Palm street thing…..Right?

Last but not least an epic location, the Beverly Whilshire – and I say epic since the movie Pretty Woman was filmed here; as you would guess, it’s a much loved place by locals and definitely an attraction for visitors. I personally love its facade and the chic outdoor restaurant, perfect to take all the Rodeo Drive vibes in; they even have a signature cocktail called ” Pretty Woman”, which of course I ordered!
