MBFW Tokyo – Yuma Koshino

Every collection seen at Tokyo Fashion Week had a particular allure that made them unique, but the identity, cutting edge aesthetic and wearability seen at the Yuma Koshino show were indeed factors by which one expects to be amazed at an event of this nature, undoubtedly runway worthy.

For those not familiar with Yuma Koshino she is the daughter of another regarded japanese designer Hiroko Koshino, her beginnings see her as a trainee at the atelier of major fashion house Kenzo in Paris in 1991, later releasing her first collection in 1998. Design collaborations and developments in the music and airline industries amongst others, along with teaching in university and even taking charge of costume design for the Japanese movie “The last love song on this little plane” (released in 2006) would follow.

The show A somewhat lurid atmosphere enhanced by the pitch black room was the perfect backdrop to highlight Koshino´s vibrant collection; It was bold, edgy and sartorial – gifted with eye catching alliances of colours and prints as well as conscious but daring silhouettes, a proposal with perfect balance between drama and coolness, with appealing ethnic traits yet cosmopolitan that reflected the true spirit of japanese fashion.

Cada colección vista en Tokyo Fashion Week tiene un influjo particular que las hace únicas, pero la identidad, estética progresista y por supuesto funcionalidad vistas en el show de Yuma Koshino, fueron ciertamente factores que anticipamos y con los que esperamos ser sorprendidos en un evento de esta naturaleza y dignos de una pasarela.

Para aquellos no familiares con Yuma Koshino, ella es hija de otro laureado diseñador japonés – Hiroko Koshino; en sus inicios se desempeñó como pasante en el atelier de la importante casa de modas francesa Kenzo en 1991, luego emprendería rumbo en nombre propio lanzando su marca en 1998 simultáneamente uniéndose a proyectos académicos como docente o encargándose del diseño de vestuario en producciones cinematográficas como lo hizo con el filme japonés “The last love song on this little plane” de 2006.

El show. En cierto modo la enrarecida atmósfera de un recinto negro profundo fué el perfecto fondo para destacar la vibrante colección; fué audaz, atrevida y sartorial – dotada con una llamativas alianzas de color y prints así como de  conscientes pero aventureras siluetas; una propuesta con perfecto balance entre drama y desenfado, marcada por un atractivos rasgos étnicos y aún así cosmopolita, reflejando el verdadero espíritu de la moda japonesa.
