MBFF SYDNEY Part I – Ready To Wear SS16
For all those involved in fashion, whether by trade or as an enthusiast, september is home to four highly anticipated events in some of the great fashion capitals of the world, NY, Paris, Milan, London, four weeks in which all eyes are on a list of world class events and high end designers. A year ago I had the pleasure to be a witness during Paris Fashion Week and attend shows from both established and emerging talent. This year being in the asia pacific region it has been refreshing to see the fashion proposals from local talent and acknowledge just how much is out there well beyond the regular outlets for talent to be on show, it also goes to show how homogeneous yet eclectic the current fashion outlook turns out to be.
I say homogeneous since although some designers still present their vision free from trend forecasting diagnosis, most brands adjust their proposals to what the so called trend oracles have suggested for the upcoming seasons. On the other hand I say eclectic as it is simply obvious that currently anything goes; old fashions claim prominence and there is room for diverse aesthetic trends – whether it is minimalism or maximalism, retro or fashion forward everything converges in a present of endless possibilities.

Para todo involucrado y entusiasta de la moda Septiembre representa un anticipado acontecimiento, – cuatro semanas en donde la atención de muchos se dirige a las principales urbes y sus correspondientes nominas de calibre; hace un año estuve en París y pude ser testigo de su atmósfera así como de algunos desfiles de conocidos y nuevos talentos. Este año estando al otro lado del Pacifico ha sido refrescante poder apreciar que hay mucho mas por ver mas allá de NY, Londres, Milán y París, así como al mismo tiempo percatarme de cuan homogéneo y ecléctico se torna el panorama de moda global.
Digo homogéneo por cuanto aunque algunos diseñadores presentan sus propuestas libres de compromisos con tendencias preestablecidas, ciertamente la mayoría ajusta su visión a la sugerencia de las trend forecasting; por otro lado digo ecléctica dado que en la actualidad nada parece en desuso, las usanzas de décadas pasadas recobran vigencia y hay aceptación por la diversidad de corrientes estilisticas, – el minimalismo, el maximalismo, lo fashion forward, lo retro, todo converge en un presente de infinitas posibilidades.
Although the main celebration around the industry in Australia takes place in April, simultaneously with the second global fashion week season in September Aussies also do their thing with an express schedule – MBFF held in Sydney, a fix for those who want to synchronize with the global beat and get a dose of the runway experience lived in other parts of the world by this time of the year with fresh proposals from local as well as some Asia pacific fashion.
Throughout the three day event, those who attended could witness a mixture of proposals from new aussie designers as well as some established names from the local fashion scene displayed in two main runways – Ready to Wear and Australian Lux. So I gladly share the first part dedicated to RTW with some images captured by me for those who probably wonder about the Australian Fashion Scene and also for those looking forward to the SS16 trends
Aunque el principal festejo de la industria en Australia tiene lugar en Abril con MBFWA, en Septiembre simultáneamente a la segunda temporada anual de pasarelas, en sus propios términos, también hace lo suyo con una agenda express denominada MBFF en Sydney, un motivo de complacencia para quienes quieren sincronizarse con el pulso global y saborear un poco el ambiente de pasarelas que se vive en otros lugares por esta época así como empaparse de lo que estará en vigencia por cuenta de la fresca propuesta tanto local como también de Asia Pacifica.
Durante el evento de tres días quienes tuvimos el gusto de asistir, pudimos apreciar en síntesis algunos de los nuevos referentes locales así como los nombres constituidos en la escena de moda local con las multi pasarelas de Ready to Wear y Australian Luxe, – aquí un breve resumen (parte 1) para todos aquellos que quieren conocer mas de la escena de moda australiana y sus protagonistas otro lado del pacifico, así como para que tomen nota de sus frescas tendencias propuestas para el verano 16

Romance was Born– Wiith ten years since it first launched RWB is a reference of youth and adventurous elegance, keeping a balance between sartorial shapes and bold prints; what we saw on the runway was a graphic fest with strong contrasts of both basic and bright colours with seductive lace fabrics and beaded textures complemented by statement accessories.
Romance was born Con diez años de haber sido lanzada, la marca Romance was born es un referente de la elegancia joven y aventurera, manteniendo un equilibrio de sartoriales siluetas junto con audaces y llamativos impresos; lo visto en pasarela fué un festín de grafías con fuertes contrastes valiéndose de tonos básicos y brillantes con una variedad de textiles, desde el seductor encaje hasta las conspicuas y festivas lentejuelas, acentuando su colección con declarativos accesorios.

Bianca Spender Por su parte, apela a simples pero soberbias siluetas en asocio con suntuosos textiles de seductora caída y movimiento, con el azul en sus gamas cielo y noche como tonos preponderantes de la eterea colección.

Dion Lee- One of the most sophisticated and innovative collections was probably Dion lee´s, with his daring cuts exploring new patterns but keeping it clean and sartorial with basic pieces for a chic and funky aesthetic.

MBFFSSYDNEY is also a cultural atraction as it´s not just open to insiders and media but it also offers the chance to fashion enthusiasts to experience an A list designer dose, a must see event to schedule if your plans take you to Sydney next September!
