50s Style – That Old Feeling

(Traducción al final) Surely you´ve  heard from your mother:  “in my time women were more femenine” or “back in the day we used to dress with more  glamour” and other comments of that nature.  I´ve heard it a bunch of times, especially when I get in the comfort zone with my pants.  Some people feel nostalgia for  femininity and glamour of past decades, but classic silhouettes are back more than ever , a signature style of the 50´s  and early 60´s with  flared skirts and waspy waist as special features is a current trend to follow. If you look at films based on the 50´s it´s not only the costumes but neat makeup and hairstyles that denote a feminine woman. My favourite flashback is the  flared skirt,  the iconic rock´n roll outfit as seen in many a movies like “Grease”. Best of all, this type of outfit would provide  a flattering silhouette: matter not if you were skinny or a curvy lady, curves stood out as they should with this type of clothing.

Therefore I couldn’t help falling in love with this minidress, from Sheinside -slightly shorter compared to the ones I’m talking about but with the intrinsic essence of old – I say this because as soon as some relatives saw me wearing it, it brought them good memories and anecdotes from their younger years. This one is quite easy to wear, and if you’re afraid to look older  by embracing  yesterdays trends … you´ll be surprised. Apart from being an attractive and colorful piece you can add a more “today”  feeling by  accompany it with jackets and boots, changing it to very alternative.

Seguramente alguna vez haz escuchado de tu madre:  ”en mis épocas la mujer era mas femenina…” o “Antes nos vestíamos con mas glamur” y otras tantas cosas por el estilo; yo si, sobre todo cuando me empecino en llevar pantalón.  Algunos añoran  aquella femineidad y glamur impecable de décadas pasadas. Pero curiosamente de un tiempo acá,  siluetas clásicas se toman la escena – si, modas van y vienen pero no todas perduran y tratándose de aceptación muchas son desechadas por las mas jóvenes,  sin embargo el estilo de los años 50´s  y principios de 60´s de abertura amplia y cintura marcada  está muy presente por estos días Si observamos películas ambientadas en la década de los 50´s como “Vaselina” no solo el vestuario sino el maquillaje prolijo y el esmero de los peinados denotaban una mujer muy femenina;  mi flashback predilecto lo constituye la falda de pollerín, emblemático atuendo si de bailar rock´n roll se trataba. Lo mejor de todo es que era una silueta  favorecedora: no importaba si eras flaca o de talla grande, las curvas resaltaban como debían con este tipo de ropa.

Por ello no pude evitar enamorarme de este minivestido, -un poco mas corto que las faltas de las estoy hablando pero con la intrínseca esencia de antaño – lo digo porque tan pronto me vieron  algunos familiares con el, les trajo  buenos recuerdos y anécdotas de sus años de juventud. Aunque debo decir que este es bastante fácil de llevar, y si lo que temes es lucir mayor por llevar tendencias del ayer…todo lo contrario, es muy atráctivo. Si quieres darle un aire mas de hoy, prueba acompañarlo con chaquetas y botines, se verá muy alternativo
