Sydney Style

It´s no secret that in fashion and style matters some cities have earned a reputation as being particularly well dressed, and although there are usual discussions favouring one or another, the topic has a subjective angle; centuries of history reveal advantages that the old continent has over other places in this respect. However nowdays the growing fashion conscious cult, in big part fed by globalization and more recently social media, have vanished the differentiating lines as far as the way we dress from one continent to another with fashion codes each time becoming more homogeneous.

We can find the very same trench coat on sale in rome and also in Bogotá, an off the shoulder top in Cartagena or Sydney, getting it from retail or a designer is up to each person´s taste, but what will always be interesting is how the environment (in addition to other circumstances of course) will influence the way we interpret fashion.

And although it would be inaccurate to assume what we see as dressing preferences at a special event such as a fashion show directly reflects what is the norm for any given location on the street, for this blog I´d like to share this compilation of street style seen at MBFFSYDNEY, withea mix of spring and fall looks given the transitional weather experience in these days.

Es innegable que en materia de moda y estilo algunas ciudades han cosechado reputación como las mejor vestidas  y aunque son frecuentes las discusiones a favor de unas u otras, el asunto cobra matices subjetivos; siglos de historia revelan la ventaja que en esta materia ha ostentado el viejo continente por mucho tiempo, sin embargo en la actualidad el creciente culto por la moda, alimentado en gran parte por la globalización y mas recientemente las redes sociales desvanecen las lineas diferenciales del vestir de un continente a otro con códigos de moda cada vez mas homogéneos,  siendo común encontrar los mismos patrones de vestir en diversos rincones del mundo.

Podemos encontrar el mismo Trench Coat tanto en una tienda de Roma como una de Bogotá, y la blusa de hombros descubiertos en cartagena al igual que en Sydney, comprarla de diseñador o retail depende de cada quien; lo que resultará siempre interesante es como en adición a otros aspectos, el influjo de nuestro entorno,  repercute en nuestra interpretación de moda.

Y aunque resulta arbitrario asumir como regla general el vestir de una locación determinada basados en lo que se ve a las afueras de un show o un evento especial, por lo que cuenta para efectos de este blog me permito compartir  esta recopilación de estilo visto durante MBFFSYDNEY y otras tomas callejeras, en las que se observan looks primaverales y de otoño dado el clima transicional que tuvo la ciudad en días pasados…
