Gentlewoman style - Pink Power Suit

Before it becomes yesterday’s news, I’m taking a break from all the FWA runway reports to briefly share with you one of my recent “Gentlewoman” looks, (basically making the gentleman’s fashion a thing of our own) Suits have been around long enough to even consider them just a trend; anyone who’s worked in an office either owns one or has in the past; there was even a time when suits were part of my everyday uniform when I had a corporate job, just that, back in the day, they felt more like boring garments I was forced to wear. I guess time also changes our appreciation for things, whether because we realize what’s really suitable for us, or rather we are influenced by what’s currently trendy; either way, if there is a trend worth following, then we’re talking Power Suit, no surprise to see it as a major proposal in almost every show during fashion week, although I admit I had in mind adding a few to my wardrobe regardless the trend since this isn’t just a two piece outfit but one from which I can built several looks mixing each piece with others from my wardrobe, – think this blazer paired with jeans, skirts, or event shorts in spring summer, and the pink pants combined with summer tops or cozy sweaters in different seasons. Definitely a smart addition.

Antes de que este look caduque, hago un paréntesis de todos los reportes de pasarelas para compartir brevemente mi estilo Gentlewoman (que básicamente es el uso de ropa masculina o inspirada en lo masculino entre las mujeres). Los trajes de pantalón han rondado por este mundo lo suficiente como para catalogarlos simplemente como una tendencia; todo aquel que por ejemplo tenga un trabajo de oficina ha llevado un traje en alguna oportunidad. Hubo incluso una epoca en la que el traje hacia parte de mis uniformes diarios, solo que en aquel entonces los veía como esa ropa aburrida que estaba obligada a llevar por protocolo. Es de suponer que el tiempo cambia nuestra apreciación de las cosas, ya sea porque somos mas conscientes de lo que de verdad nos favorece, o porque inevitablemente somos influenciados por lo que vemos como vigente. En todo caso, si hay una tendencia que vale la pena seguir, entonces hablamos del power suit. No fue sorpresa alguna ver trajes de pantalón en la gran mayoría de pasarelas durante FWA, aunque particularmente admito que desde hace algun tiempo quería incorporar unos cuantos trajes a mi estilo, independientemente de la tendencia. Por último, y no menos importante, ofrece la ventaja de combinar fácilmente cada pieza con otras de tu armario, como por ejemplo, el blazer con jeans, faldas e incluso shorts en primavera verano; de igual manera los pantalones con tops de verano o suéteres según la temporada. En definitiva una adición inteligente y versátil.
