Lookbook – Chloé Fall 2016
An opulent and athletic sensuality defines the Chloé Fall 2016 where a flared silhouette is enveloped in autumnal warmth. With a rustic palette of ochre, terracotta, burgundy, and chocolate tones offset by the clear shades of grey marle, denim, and sky blues, a calm sense of transeasonal duality abounds in an effortless layered wardrobe. Inspired by the figurative paintings and decadent spaces designed by the Ballets Russes collaborator Leon Bakst, an exotic narrative plays out in dense textiles like kilim carpet jacquards, plush wallpaper velvets, and mosaic floral silks, forming an ornate counterpoint to the sports attitude of washed denim, technical parkas, and superfine jersey fleece.
This unexpected harmony of natural and technical materials pairs shearling, felt wool, and quilted cotton outerwear with silk georgette and polka dot tulle, for a languid and carefree silhouette of fluted sleeves, skirt, and pant shapes that fall below the knee and to the floor. Chloé’s signature flou is exhibited in flounced drawstring shirts and tiered gowns ornately worked with pleats and ruching – pieces that float off the body beneath bouclé knit coats and leather-trimmed shearling.
The rich hand of the collection continues across the Fall 2016 accessories, as two-tone folded booties are laced in leather, wedges are piped with shearling details, and Chelsea boots are crafted from tapestry jacquard. Elsewhere the iconic ‘Drew’ and ‘Faye’ bags are updated with patchwork geometries of suede and python, shearling stripes, and carpet textures.
“My Fall collection is influenced by the athletic nature of dance, and a sense of fluidity and movement. Everything has a rich and lived-in quality, playing with the contrasts of soft flou and the warmth of wrapped capes” says Chloé Creative Director Clare Waight Keller.
