70’s Disco Glam

Happy New Year everyone, wishing you 365 days full of joy and blessings!

If you ask me, the best way to welcome the new year is with those close to our heart, but if for some reason we are away from home, Sydney is indeed an amazing place to say hello to a brand new year. Having been in a few different venues with a view to the midnight fireworks Sydney is known for, I was wondering where to celebrate this year. So when my friend Jenny, suggested celebrating NYE at ax 70’s inspired party, I immediately said yesI – Did I mention great location?

It sounded fun, to say the least, – yes, we would have to look for that perfect 70’s look. But I didn’t want my outfit to look like a custom, I wanted to carry a 70’s staple yet timeless. The 70’s were rich as far as fashion goes, yet whenever a 70’s party comes around, people often go for a custom or the usual boho style, – which I have no problems with, but there is a bit more to choose from. Influenced by political and cultural revolutions, the 70’s were eclectic, gathering iconic trends and references that still resonate in today’s fashion, – bell-bottoms, flare sleeves, wrap dresses, deep cleavages, jumpsuits, platforms, psychedelic prints, the afro, the middle line hai etc.

But it was also the decade known for introducing glam and glitter to the masses thanks to the disco glam….the Disco scene was an outstanding reference of the 70’s, especially at legendary hubs like Studio 54 at the end of the decade, where flamboyant fashion was the dress code – chunky platforms shoes, bold prints, big hair, and of course it was all about shine glitter and sparkle. Today I’d like to share a few snaps from our NYE 70’s inspired party – a golden wrap dress that perfectly evokes the night scene of those days, yet an evergreen style to carry whenever you want to shine!

Hola hola, Feliz año para todos, espero que hayan gozado de un grata celebración y deseándoles 365 dias llenos de felicidad  y venturas!

Si me preguntan, la mejor manera de recibir el nuevo año es con aquellos que llevamos en el corazón, pero si por cualquier motivo nos encontramos lejos de casa, una celebracion multitudinaria en una gran ciudad puede complacer nuestro espíritu, y pocas ciudades como Sydney para dar la bienvenida al nuevo año. Habiendo estado ya en varias celebraciones en diferentes rincones de la ciudad con vista al Harbout Bridge para apreciar los juegos pirotécnicos a la media noche, me preguntaba cual seria mi próximo epicentro. Por eso cuando mi amiga Jenny sugirio asistir a una fiesta setentera, de inmediato dije si!

Obviamente para cumplir con el dress code, debíamos buscar nuestros looks con remembranza setentera, pero en mi caso no queria que mi atuendo pareciera un disfraz como suele suceder en las fiestas temáticas, quería una referencia propia de esos días pero igualmente atemporal. Los 70’s fueron ricos en cuanto a moda, sin embargo cada que se presenta un festejo con motivo setentero muchos acuden a los disfraces o al usual boho look, con lo que no tengo problema, pero ciertamente hay mucho mas de donde escojer. Influenciada revoluciones políticas y culturales, esta década se destacó por su eclecticismo dejando a su paso icónicas tendencias que siguen resonando en la moda actual – Pantalones acampanados, mangas amplias, vestidos estilo wrap, enterizos, escote profundo en v, plataformas, prints psicodélicos, el afro, la raya en el medio,entre otros.

Pero tambien fue la decada conocida por llevar el brillo a las masas, gracias al Disco Glam. Si, la escena Disco fue un rasgo sobresaliente durante los 70’s, en Norte América por ejemplo, Studio 54 trascendió en la cultura popular, en donde el vestuario extravagante era la regla general. – Grandes zapatos de plataforma gruesa, estampados estrafalarios, cabello notorio y por supuesto brillo y destello. A continuacion algunas tomas de mi look setentero inpirado en el Disco Glam – Un vestido wrap dorado que evoca la escena discotequera de aquellos días pero al mismo tiempo siempre vigente para esas ocasiones en que queremos brillar!
