Postcards from Cartagena

Postcards from Cartagena

The one with dreamy balconies and colourful alleys, romantic sunsets and bewitching nights – The Old Cartagena. If you haven’t had the chance to visit this Caribbean Gem, you might have seen the picturesque postcards thousands of tourist publish daily on Instagram ( I’m talking to all those out of Colombia of course ). At first glance, a paradise for photography enthusiasts, but if your purpose goes far beyond just getting beautiful backdrop for your holiday snaps, Cartagena is indeed a destination of contrasts, that for moments seems to transport us in time.

Although Cartagena is bordered by immaculate waters and it offers a unique ecotourism, wandering the streets, as you listen the sound of horse carriages passing and the particular echoes of festive nights whilst you witness it all from a flourished balcony is one of those memorable experiences that are worth reviving as much as u can. so I decided to stay in the Historic Centre – the old part of the city surrounded by the wall.

Close enough to the sea but immersed in the local architecture’s colonial splendour, the profusion of balconies in bloom and the Caribbean colour palette along with the nearby amenities where sufficient to please my senses until the next time. The following are a few snaps during my stay from Getsemani, Plaza San Diego and Heredia Theatre areas.
